Chapter One part - 4

Prayers to Family deity and Sages.

22. Now, I bow to our Family deity, Narayan Adinath, who abides in Ksheersagar (sea of milk), redeemer of all, from sorrow, suffering and pain.

23. When parashuramaparashurama forced back the waters of ocean. A new land was created, named as Konkan. Narayana have appeared here.

24. Narayana dwells within, and rules the hearts of all creatures, protecting them with loving kindness. I draw my inspiration in refuge to Him.

25. My obeisance, next to the great sage and my original ancestor, to whom Bhargava (Parshuram) brought to Konkan, from Bengal, for the successful completion of great Yajna.

26. Bharadwaj, the greatest among sages, the founder of my ancestry, who belonged to Shakala branch of Rig Veda, and who was also founder of all the Adya Gaud Brahmins, – to him i bow respectfully.

27. Next, I make my obeisance to Brahmins, who are Brahman Incarnate, the veritable gods on this earth. And then, I proceed to pay my respects to the greatest among yogis, – Yajnyavalkya, Bhrighu, Parashar, Narada and others.

28. Ved Vyasa (son of Parashar); Sanak, Sanandan, Sanatsujat, Sanatkumar (born of mind of Brahma); Shuka, Shaunak, the composer of Sutra; Vishwamitra and Vashistha;

29. Valmiki, Vamdev, Jaimini, Vaishampayan, and the nine Munis, ie. Yogindra, etc. I prostrate in obeisance at the feet of all these sages.

30. Let me now worship all the revered saints, like Nivritti, Jnaneshvar, Mukta, Sopan, Eknath, Swami Janardan, Tukaram, Kanhoba, Narhari.

31. To these, I just remember their names and make my prostrations with mind and pray for their blessings, to avoid the extension of this sacred literature.

32. Then, I bow to SadaShiva, my grandfather, who was a man of impressive piety, and who, finding this worldly material life, meaningless and empty, took his abode at Badrinath and Kedarnath, to the end of his days.

33. Then, I bow reverently to my Father, who always worshiped Shiva, wore Rudraksha beads around his neck. His personal God was Shiva.

34. I bow to my mother, who brought me in this world. Who reared me, taking troubles discarding the pleasures.

35. She passed away, in my childhood. My parental aunt  cared and reared me, taking all the troubles. I bow at her feet. How can i repay the debts to her?

36. My elder brother, spent most of his time, in remembrance of God . Unparallel was his love and affection, he would give his life for me. I bow at his feet.

37. Now, listeners, I ask for undivided attention. If you are inattentive, how can I be happy?

38. More the listener are quality-conscious and clever, eager to listen to the stories. More the speaker’s deeper-self, overflows with gladness and celebration.

39. If you are inattentive, what is the purpose of telling stories? So i prostrate to you, that you listen with a glad cheerful mind.

40. Nor I have profound knowledge of literature and science. Nor have I read thoroughly any scholarly work. Nor have I listened to the stories of Saints, being narrated. You know that absolute.

41. I know my limitations, I know my shortcomings. But to obey the words of my GuruBabaOrginal , this literature, is an attempt to write His life stories.

42. My own mind tells me, that I am tiny piece of straw before you. But be gracious on me, accepting my surrender.

43. Now, i remember our Sadguru, and with love and devotion i worship His CharanSai_Baba_Charan_2   (feet of Holy men or Sadguru). I approach Him surrendering my body, my speech and my mind. He is mainspring of wisdom and inspiration.

44. We always serve sweet dishes at the end of the meal. In the similar way, with loving remembrance of Sadguru i end the Invocation of Divine.

45. Om Namo Sadgururaya! The refuge of the animate and inanimate creation. You are the compassionate ONE,who sustains the entire universe eternally.

46. Earth, the (swapta dwipa) seven islands of Hindu mythology, nine continents, the seven heavens and seven netherworlds, emerges from Hiranyagarbha or the golden egg of Brahman. It itself is the well-known Brahmanda.

47. That which this universe extents, that which is called un-manifest Maya. The Sadguru dwells well beyond the ever expanding universe (Brahmand), and Maya(1).

48. Trying to describe the greatness of Sadguru, the Vedas, became silent. Know that, ingenuity or tricks of logic are of no avail here.

49.  O’ Sadguru, you defy all comparison; for whichever object I tell the other, you pervade it, by virtue of natural attributes. Whatever object the eyes fall upon, is but the form assumed by yourself.

50. Such You are compassionate Sadguru Samarth, who can be comprehended only by your own self, who is beyond everything, without the beginning or end. To You i bow!

51. O’ the greatest, Obeisance to You, who is in ever-bliss, ever-content, self-effulgent, home of all auspiciousness, the Soul Beautiful Guruvar!

52. Now, when i try to sing your praise, even the Vedas and Shrutis have fallen silent doing so. Do i have the knowledge to understand You?

53. Jai Jai Sadguru Karunakaari! (Hail to you the compassionate and merciful)

Jai Jai Godatirvihaari! (Glory to dweller on the banks of Godavari)

Jai Jai Brahmesh Lakshmipati ! ---------(Lakshmi Lakshmipati (consort of Lakshmi)

I bow to you Dattavtari! (Avatar (manifestation of Lord Dattatreya)

54. That which is the essence if Brahma is not different from Sadguru. Offer the “panch prana” and make absolute surrender.
